My name is Mitch and I am a 21 year old college student at
PBCC. I am studying as a business major and a marketing minor.
Ive been a DJ for the past 7 years of my life and its been a hell of a trip! I started
DJing when I was really young. I would play with all the computer programs and make all these corny mixes when I first started out. At the age of 16 I got my first pair of
technics along with a
vestax mixer. From that day on I would spend countless hours learning how to beat match and gave a few attempts at scratching... After a few pairs of needles I decided to stick with blending more than scratching for awhile
lol.
After about a year of practicing I finally built up the courage to start promoting myself to a bunch of different promotion companies that I was already working for at teen nights. I started off just like any other beginner DJ. I would open up for all the bigger
DJ's in the area
until I learned my ropes around the clubs and got more experienced. I worked my way up the ladder pretty quickly and within
a couple months I started
DJing a bunch of teen nights and random private parties.
As I got a bit older, I started
DJing at a bunch of 18+ clubs on long island and started to gain
a lot more respect from other
DJ's and people in the industry. It's been a hell of a fight and I am still nowhere close to where I want to be in the music industry.
Now that I am 21 and well experienced at
DJing, I am hoping to take my musical career to another level. I just recently moved down to south
florida from NY. I am starting to meet a bunch of cool promoters and
DJ's. I network every week and any chance I get. So far Ive had the opportunity to DJ at a bunch of clubs in
Boca Raton, Ft
Lauderdale and in West Palm Beach. Hopefully I will be able to hook up with a couple promotion companies down here and score a couple good residencies! Only time will tell... Patience is one thing that you must have when building a career as a DJ. One day you're nobody, and the next
you're headlining large venues and getting paid very well!
